Provo Girls' Book Club

Hey Provo Friends!

I've created a girls' book club and need more members! We will be meeting once a month to discuss book and have some pot luck munchies. Check out the goodreads group for more info. On Wednesday (March 7th) we'll be meeting at my sister-in-law's house (near DI) to discuss Chains by Laurie Halse Anderson. If you want to come, feel free! If you've read the book, great. If not, come find out what it's about. I'll be passing out our new book, Blink by Malcom Gladwell at the meeting or just let me know if you'd like one of the copies and we can figure out a place to meet up or I can possibly just drop it off at your place.

Turkey, Bunions, Christmas & Family!

So much for 2 posts a month. Sorry about that- but I'm sure you all understand how crazy things get during the holidays.

A lot has happened since October. To sum up, I am no longer working, Michael officially passed his last classes and is completely finished with school, I had bunion surgery, we had two wonderful Thanksgiving dinners, I turned 24, Michael's parents drove up to Utah for Christmas and my brother Scott got home from his mission in Switzerland!

Since I'm guessing that's not a sufficient update, I'll go into a bit more detail.

October 2011 General Conference

While doing last minute prep for my talk in t minus eight hours an some odd minutes, I stumbled upon a General Conference 'Meme.' What the junk was a 'meme' and why wasn't it called a questionnaire or survey?! Well, I can't really answer the latter question, but the answer to the former can be found here.

Reading all the answers from other bloggers, did send me in the right direction for my talk. Thus, I decided to write my thoughts down in the form of a blog in order to be able to narrow down the options and pick my topic. So here goes.

Apologies

Hello Everyone!

Yes, we are alive.
No, we haven't fallen into the pit of despair or been put in prison.
Yes, we are loving our new apartment.
No, we aren't pregnant.
Yes, we're both still employed at Property Solutions.
No, Michael technically hasn't graduated yet, but he walked in August and is finishing his last 3 classes and will be done in December (YAY!!!).

So what has kept me away from the blogosphere? In a word, life.

We're getting... A Kitten!

A few of you might have heard a rumor about how I've really wanted a kitten for quite some time. Ever since I was a kid, I've adored those furry little felines.  They just have a way of making you smile, ya know?

Yes, this is a mini-Lindsey.

Well ever since my cat died a year ago...

Kitty 1996-2010

Scrapbook pages I might have made when I was 11.

... I practically made Michael promise we'd get a kitten about 6 months after we got married and I've been looking forward to that day ever since. So of course around our 6 month anniversary, all I wanted for a present, was a little orange striped kitten with white paws. I hinted this to everyone we worked with, our friends, etc. On our weekend in Salt Lake for Valentine's, we had a candid conversation about if we move then finding a place that allows pets is hard, and those that allow pets usually charge very expensive monthly pet rent and a hefty pet deposit. So I dejectedly agreed we should wait.

5K and Girls' Night!

Saturday mornings should not start before 9am. It should be a law. But alas, our work has sponsored an exercise program and paid for employees and spouses to enter the Rex E. Lee 5k/10k Run, so in an effort to participate and support the cause, we signed up for the 5k.

Our Goal: To Finish.

With co-workers right before the race (Michael is behind me on the far right).

iMania!

For work, I was given an iPhone and it has been such a blessing. It provides an app with such an easy to follow format that those of us who are directionally inept, can get where we're going by simply following a little blinking dot. I can text my boss updates or reminders from anywhere and it remembers previous texts so that carrying on a conversation is a piece of cake. My Google calendar syncs with my phone so that I will never forget a meeting or event again. Typing and texting are such a breeze that I'm positive I'll never say "gone" instead of "home" again! The Pandora app gives me awesome music anytime I want and I couldn't be happier with all the extra free apps like weather, camera, calculator, amazon, youtube, safari, smurf's village, angry birds (lite), and a few paid ones like Michael's Financial Calculator and Fruit Ninja. So you'd think that we'd be set as far as apple products went, right?!
